Sightseeing
Münster is a historic city in the heart of the Münsterland and has a lot to offer. Here you will find numerous cultural and historical sights that are well worth a visit. The city's most famous landmark is undoubtedly St Paul's Cathedral (pictured on the right), which was built in the 13th century and is an impressive example of Gothic architecture. The Prinzipalmarkt, located next to one of the most beautiful market squares in Europe, is also well worth a visit. Here you will find high-quality owner-managed shops that invite you to browse and shop, as well as historic buildings such as the town hall with the Friedenssaal. An absolute highlight is the weekly market (Wednesdays and Saturdays) on the market square in front of the cathedral: a colourful hustle and bustle between flowers, fruit, vegetables and many other culinary delights.
The Aasee, a large lake in the heart of Münster, offers numerous recreational opportunities such as sailing and walking. A stone's throw away is the Allwetterzoo Münster with its adjacent Natural History Museum. The LWL Museum, Picasso Museum, as well as numerous churches will delight our culturally interested guests. The Lamberti Church impresses visitors to Münster with its original cages of the Anabaptists from 1536.
The city harbour (Kreativkai) has firmly established itself as a popular address among Münster residents. The harbour district is where the nightlife takes place with a relaxing view of the water. Numerous bars, restaurants and trendy pubs are situated here.
